Anti Aging 101

1 Thin Hair
The cause: Hormonal changes, diet, and inadequate levels of iron in the bloodstream can all play a role in your hair's overall loss of thickness.

The cure: Pop a multivitamin that's rich in amino acids and B vitamins.

2 Yellow Teeth and Receding Gums
The cause: Over time, surface bacteria and dark-colored drinks cause enamel stains, while plaque overgrowth can result in receding gums.
The cure: Floss daily—no excuses! "It's a must to help maintain healthy gum tissue and keep it from receding," says Brecht.

3 Sparse, Brittle Eyelashes
The cause: Frequent eye rubbing can trigger lashes to shed, explains Jan Marini, founder and CEO of Jan Marini Skin Research. Plus, nature's replenishing system slows down as we get older, leaving us with fewer lashes that don't stick around as long. And those weak, brittle ends? Old mascara is the likely culprit, since most formulas cake up and are hard to remove.

The cure: To prevent breakage, replace mascara every 90 days and use a gentle remover each night to take off all eye makeup.

4 Dry, Rough Nails and Damaged Cuticles
The cause: Skin and nails lose moisture with age. And the dryness is compounded by frequent hand washing and overexposure to harsh, cold temperatures. "Constant use of polish and coarse nail tools will also weaken the nails," says Jin Soon Choi, a salon owner in New York City

The cure: Hydrate your hands with a petrolatum-based cream to lock in moisture. At night, massage cuticle oil around the edges of your nail beds to prevent breakage. via

Reasons You Have Belly Fat

You're Doing Crunches, Not Cardio
While ab exercises will tone your core muscles, they won't do anything about the layer of fat covering them up. Cardio is a must because it's the only way you can burn calories, which will decrease your overall percentage of body fat, and slim down your tummy.

Your Cardio Isn't Intense Enough

While cardio will burn calories and help you maintain your body weight, if you really want to melt away unwanted pounds, you need to do at least 12 minutes(after warming up) of continuous, heart-pumping, high-intensity cardio at least four days a week in order to see results.

You're Skipping Breakfast
It would make sense that eating less would help you lose weight, but you should never skip meals, especially the first meal of the day. Eating breakfast jump-starts your metabolism, regulates your blood sugar levels, and gives you energy until lunch. Make sure your breakfast choice is high in protein and fiberto fill you up and eliminate the need for you to snack on M&M's mid-morning.

You Follow the Three-Meals-a-Day Rule
Eating three meals a day was a standard way of eating many years ago, but the problem with this plan is that you end up starving by the time it's mealtime, which can translate to stuffing yourself silly with huge portions. It's best to eat three regular meals and one or two healthy snacks throughout the day. Spacing out your calories and eating every three or so hours regulates your blood sugar and controls the release of insulin that can cause your body to store more calories as fat.

You're Kicking Back More Than a Few
The one-drink-a-day recommendation isn't just good for your health; it's also good for your waistline. Alcohol can add on hundreds of extra calories, so if you're trying to slim down your belly, ditch the alcoholic bevvies for a month or so, and you're sure to notice a difference.

Great Foods You Aren't Eating

Baked beans
Great for soluble fibre (the type that helps to lower blood sugar and cholesterol levels), baked beans also give you 6g of protein per average serving; about the same as in a medium-size egg. Have them on toast, with a baked potato or, if you absolutely must, straight from the can.

Green tea
Swap a couple of cups of your builder’s brew a day for green tea. Especially rich in polyphenols, green tea antioxidants have antibacterial and antithrombotic roles, and regulate the immune system. The lazy man’s solution to boosting antioxidants, which may also help to fight tooth decay.

Poached eggs
Eggs give us lecithin, which is turned into choline once eaten, a vital component of transmitters in our brains involved in memory. This brain-boosting food is also fabulously filling — eat two for breakfast (poached or boiled, not fried) and, according to research, you will eat 400 calories less during the rest of the day.

Dark chocolate
The dark varieties (above 70 per cent cocoa solids) are rich in antioxidants. Studies have shown that flavanol-packed cocoa acts in an “aspirin-like” way to stop blood cells clumping together.

Almonds
Ditch cholesterol-raising snacks such as biscuits and cakes and trade them in for a fistful of almonds. Research shows that this will help you to feel full and cut back on artery-clogging fats.

Apples
With an astonishing 150 supernutrients packed into each apple you eat, this easy-to-transport, easy-to-eat, no-waste fruit is especially good for quercetin, an antioxidant that appears from laboratory research to help to kill off viruses such as herpes, which causes cold sores. Quercetin sits just under the skin so never peel your apples before eating.

Vibrator Part Left in Woman's Genitals

A Taiwanese woman lodged a police report against her boyfriend after he forced a vibrator into her private part without her consent.

Worse, the boyfriend - a medical student in his 30s - did not notice that a part of the vibrator had broken off and was left inside the woman's body.

His girlfriend, known only as Xiao Man, found out about the broken bit after taking an X-ray after suffering pain in her vagina for three days.

According to Liberty Times, the man had numerous times requested his girlfriend of three years to use a vibrator while they have sex but was rejected.

Recently, when the couple was having sex, the man took out a vibrator and put it into Xiao Man's private part without her knowing.

He stopped when she complained of pain and quickly pulled out the vibrator and hid it, not knowing that the front part of the sex toy had broken off and was left in her vagina.

The boyfriend effing deserves a kick in the balls or more!

Male PMS

When most people think of PMS they think of women. However, researchers recently discovered that many men suffer from a condition similar to PMS called irritable male syndrome (IMS). Men with IMS often experience mood swings, stomach cramps and even hot flashes. These symptoms and others are caused by a drop in the male hormone testosterone.

IMS can manifest at any time because, unlike women who experience monthly hormone cycles, men experience a daily hormone cycle. Males' levels of testosterone are highest after waking and fall throughout the day.

Irritable Male Syndrome Symptoms
anger
anxiety
hypersensitivity
irritability.

Changes in the male hormone cycle can also cause males to experience the following:

a lack of arousal
backaches
headaches
hot flashes
sexual dysfunction
stomach cramps.

The male version of PMS can cause men to feel antisocial and depressed and can leave them unable to concentrate...

Easy on the Sushi

If you're a fan of sushi, it's worth noting that some types of fish tend to contain more mercury than others; by choosing wisely, you can minimize your risk of experiencing mercury toxicity.

Why is it important to avoid mercury toxicity?

Mercury is highly toxic to your nervous system. Mercury poisoning may lead to:

Memory loss

Tremors

Loss of vision

Nerve dysfunction in your extremities, most commonly presenting as numbness of your fingers and toes

Problems with fertility

Some points worth noting from The New York Times article:

1. Generally, the more expensive the variety of tuna, the higher its potential mercury content, as premium varieties of tuna tend to come from larger species that eat a lot of fish and accumulate mercury with each fish eaten.

2. Bluefin tuna tends to have higher levels of mercury than yellowfin or albacore tuna.

3. Cooking fish doesn't alter its mercury content.

4. In order to reduce risk of mercury toxicity while consuming fish for its health-promoting nutrients, it's best to eat smaller fish that are lower in the food chain.

As mentioned above, larger fish act as predators to a larger quantity and greater variety of smaller fish, so larger fish tend to have the highest concentrations of mercury in their flesh. Unfortunately, many of the fish that are selected for sushi and sashimi are the larger predators.

Sushi that Tend to be High in Mercury (More than 0.3 parts per million): Ahi (yellowfin tuna), Aji (horse mackerel), Saba (mackerel), Sawara (Spanish mackerel), Seigo (young sea bass), Shiro (albacore tuna), Suzuki (sea bass)...

Salt Reduction Could Save 92,000 Lives A Year

Salt, which contributes to high blood pressure and heart disease, is widely overused in the United States, with 75 to 80 percent coming from processed food. Men typically consume 10.4 grams per day. For women, the average is 7.3 grams. Its use is rising.

A reduction of 1 gram would prevent 11,000 to 23,000 strokes, 18,000 to 35,000 heart attacks and 15,000 to 32,000 deaths from any cause, the researchers reported in New England Journal of Medicine.

Women would benefit the most.

Anti-Aging Tip

Tip description / details:
My tip is to have more sex. Sex increases all kinds of wonderful hormones and things. Who doesn't have the most radiant glow after lovemaking? To stay looking young into her 90's my grandmother always recommended regular sex. She was a firecracker, but she looked good till the end.

Ingredients:
A man, and an hour.

How to prepare:
Sexy lingerie, etc.

How to use:
Uh, this is up to you. Grandma always said that she and grandpa still 'did it' (her words) once a week into their 90s! Well, he was a little younger: she died at 101, he was 96. I don't know if he was using Viagra or what, but she was always pretty proud of herself and never was shy about telling other why she still looked so good. And I will give it to her, she was a very glamorous woman, and never looked a day over 75

Results (observed by submitter):
So far, so good. And it's not like getting a root canal, after all! You just need a willing partner I guess.

Laptop Radiation

We have all heard of the dangers of electromagnetic radiation coming from laptops, and what this radiation might be doing to our bodies. The fact is many appliances give off some radiation including television sets, DVD players, satellites, microwave ovens, computers, and of course mobile phones.

The risk of developing health problems because of radiation exposure is supposed to increase dramatically if we spend a great deal of time in close proximity to this radiation and particularly when we use wireless technology, which many of us do when we use our laptops. The main concern with laptops is that they sit on your lap, which just happens to be incredibly close to your genitals and therefore the word on the street is that it can make you infertile and can cause cancer. It sounds terrifying doesn’t it?

According the World Health Organisation there is no danger from Wi-fi as the radiation levels are much lower than the threshold for an effect on humans. It’s all so terribly confusing making it difficult to know what to believe. What we do know is that radiation can be harmful in large doses. So how do we know if we are suffering from the effects of radiation exposure?

Symptoms associated with Electromagnetic radiation exposure

Although the following symptoms are associated with radiation exposure, it doesn’t mean that radiation is the cause of the symptoms.
- Fatigue
- Inability to concentrate
- Headaches
- Psychological problems
- Anxiety and Depression
- Insomnia
- Memory lapses
- Dizziness
- Feeling breathless
- Nausea

A Great Excuse to Take a Nap

But if those are the bad dreams, do they still count?

It's a Myth: Red Wine

"It's an absolute myth that red wine is good for you," says Professor Valerie Beral from the University of Oxford and lead author of the Million Women study.

"The evidence is not there."

"Our research identified a group of chemicals called procyanadins which are polyphenols, and the key component in terms of protecting from heart disease."

Polyphenols, such as the antioxidant resveratrol, are found in the skins of red wine grapes.

"In high doses it does seem to enhance the lifespan of mice. But," he adds crucially, "you need huge doses."

In humans, it equates to thousands of litres of wine.

Professor Corder dismisses wines that effectively promote themselves as a health drink, with 'rich in polyphenols' or 'rich in antioxidants' on the label.

But, he says, two small glasses of a very tannic, procyanadin rich wine would confer a benefit.

"The problem is that most supermarket wines are low procyanadin and high alcohol," he said.

"We're promoting bad wine for bad habits."
