Self-Reminder: Stop Being A F-cking Pussy

Ok, you want to be successful. You think you’re trying your hardest. Dammit you are pretty sure you’re gunning for it, really hard!
But here is the truth: You’re not.

It’s time you stopped being a fucking pussy.

You want a better blog, a more profitable business, a happier marriage, or a better life? You want to meet a girl, or travel to Asia, or lose weight, or meet an Asian girl who’ll help you lose weight, or something else? Great! So does everyone.

Just to be clear: for other people, it is entirely clear that you haven’t fully committed. If you had, you would be closer. Why?

You would do the exercises.
You’d put in the hours.
You’d take people’s advice (especially if it made you uncomfortable!).
You’d learn to talk to people.
You would find a system.

Look, your lack of progress pretty much stems from things you’re avoiding because a) you are unsure of how they’re done, or b) you’re unconsciously (or consciously!) unwilling to do them. In other words, you are a fucking pussy.

You might be saying, “No Julien, I’m just procrastinating. It’s in my nature. I’m just bad at being organized.” I call bullshit.
Examine your intentions. There is a real something holding you back– I guarantee it. Unless what you really want to do is sit around playing Nintendo DS all day, there is something else there.

Ask yourself out loud: What am I afraid of?

I guarantee that when you do this, when you say it out loud and listen to the answer, your answer will sound stupid. Because most of our issues are pretty stupid.

Anti Aging 101

1 Thin Hair
The cause: Hormonal changes, diet, and inadequate levels of iron in the bloodstream can all play a role in your hair's overall loss of thickness.

The cure: Pop a multivitamin that's rich in amino acids and B vitamins.

2 Yellow Teeth and Receding Gums
The cause: Over time, surface bacteria and dark-colored drinks cause enamel stains, while plaque overgrowth can result in receding gums.
The cure: Floss daily—no excuses! "It's a must to help maintain healthy gum tissue and keep it from receding," says Brecht.

3 Sparse, Brittle Eyelashes
The cause: Frequent eye rubbing can trigger lashes to shed, explains Jan Marini, founder and CEO of Jan Marini Skin Research. Plus, nature's replenishing system slows down as we get older, leaving us with fewer lashes that don't stick around as long. And those weak, brittle ends? Old mascara is the likely culprit, since most formulas cake up and are hard to remove.

The cure: To prevent breakage, replace mascara every 90 days and use a gentle remover each night to take off all eye makeup.

4 Dry, Rough Nails and Damaged Cuticles
The cause: Skin and nails lose moisture with age. And the dryness is compounded by frequent hand washing and overexposure to harsh, cold temperatures. "Constant use of polish and coarse nail tools will also weaken the nails," says Jin Soon Choi, a salon owner in New York City

The cure: Hydrate your hands with a petrolatum-based cream to lock in moisture. At night, massage cuticle oil around the edges of your nail beds to prevent breakage. via

Give Me A Pack Of Cigs

"Three packet designs were envisioned, each one choosing to display the health hazards in a different way. One chose the option of compiling a recipe list all the chemicals contained in cigarettes, another opted for illustrating in fine, minimal, detail how smoking will curtail your life expectancy..."via

Aging: It's All In the Mind

"She took some very ancient people, who were pretty impaired in terms of their strength, their mobility, and believed about themselves that they pretty much needed assistance to do every thing. She took them on this brilliantly designed study. She actually took them to a cabin and set everything up as if it were 1950. There were no newspapers, nothing that related to the present. The music was the 1950’s, the discussion were things that were going on in the 1950’s, so she actually took them back to a place in which they – to a decade in which they were very much more able.

Within a week, not only did their blood lipids improve, their posture improved, their strength improved, their test of memory improved. They actually had a different self-concept about their chronological age and they behaved differently. And the things you could measure, like blood lipids and strength and mobility had actually improved." via

Drink, Play F&#k

The New Yorker interviews Andrew Gottlieb about his new book “Drink, Play, F@#k”.
I wrote “Drink, Play, F@#k” because I was mystified by the success of “Eat, Pray, Love,” and I felt that the book, and its Oprah-sanctioned ubiquity, needed to be made fun of. Initially my book was just going to be a broad parody of Elizabeth Gilbert’s story. But, as I began outlining and writing, I realized that a straight parody would bore me (and, presumably, the readers) pretty quickly. I also realized that, while my book is basically just a humorous goof, I also had something to say about the differences and the similarities between the way men and women approach problems. I would say that the “Drink, Play, F@#k” ratio is approximately 72% parody, 27% greater statement, and 1% half-assed get-rich-quick-scheme.

The New Yorker: Is this a book that celebrates an alternative male escape, or that mocks the idea that such an escape is valuable or possible?

Andrew Gottlieb: I have been married for twenty-one years, and I have three children. I would never mock any kind of male escape alternative. However, I’m not above mocking self-obsession, dramatic hand-wringing, and whiny navel-gazing.

I'm sure you men don't have to buy this book to master such things. These places just naturally bring out "the best" in you ;)

Wacky Beauty Tips That Work

Hmmm... I'm going to try these...

2) Scent Strands with Perfume
Spray a light shot of fragrance into your brush's bristles. Run it through strands from roots to ends and your hair will smell amazing throughout the day.

3) Cure Calluses with Vaseline
Slather on the petroleum jelly, and put on socks before bed to dissolve tough calluses overnight.

12) Boost Body Lotion with Baby Oil
If you're craving shiny legs that aren't greasy, blend a drop of baby oil into your normal body lotion for extra luster.

15) Freeze Your Eyeliner
If the tip of your eyeliner pencil crumbles and smears on your lids, store the liner in the freezer for 15 minutes before use so the tip is firm and goes across your skin smoothly.

16) Use Toothpaste on a Zit
Use just a pea-size amount. Let sit for 15 minutes to absorb the oil so the pimple won't get more clogged, then wash off.

18) Use Soap Without Water
You know those fancy bars that are actually too pretty to use? Toss them in your underwear or tee-shirt drawers to make your skin smell delicious.

21) Lubricate Your Lashes
An easy way to draw attention to your eyes without putting on a pile of makeup is to comb petroleum jelly lightly through the tips of eyelashes to get a sexy, subtle sparkle.

26) Shave with Conditioner
Ran out of shaving cream? Do double duty by coating your stems with a thick hair conditioner. It softens the hair so it's easier to shave off and makes legs feel amazingly silky.

27) Amp Shine with Vinegar
Mix one part vinegar with four parts carbonated water, and soak dry hair. Leave on for 15 minutes before you shampoo to lock in shine and combat dullness.

28) Exfoliate Your Pits
If your underarms start to look dry and flaky, an easy trick is to exfoliate them with a gentle face scrub to keep that skin pretty when going sleeveless.

29) Customize Your Body Lotion
Instead of shelling out for an expensive perfumed body product, you can make your own by pouring a few drops of fragrance into any scent-free lotion. Rub it on — the scent will last for hours.

Perfect Gifts For Him & Her...Seriously.

This Wine Rack is a $30 sports bra containing pouches for liquid attached to a straw, so you can finally enjoy the long-awaited thrill of drinking from your own boobs. Maybe it's time for Victoria's Secret to fill their bra cups with actual Capri Sun packets and sell them with a mini-straw attached, like juice boxes. via

The Single-Serve Plastic Wine Glasses

An English entrepreneur has sold this invention of single-serve plastic wine glasses–stem and all!–to Marks & Spencer, which now “struggles to keep up with demand.” He is laughing all the way to the bank since a business reality show in the UK called “Dragons’ Den” panned the idea when he presented it on the show. Sold under the brand “Le Froglet,” the individual 187ml glasses cost £2.25 ($3.33) for a Shiraz, Rose and Chardonnay, which, apparently, come from the Languedoc. via

I'm excited about this invention. I remember I told my friend that I wanted to bring a bottle of wine and plastic glasses and have a picnic in a park. He condemned me for wanting to drink wine of the plastic glasses. Look, now! IN YOUR FACE! HA!

Modify Your Storage

Another idea to maximize the use of space and storage by using MagnaPod plastic storage...or you can DIY something similar.

If you have a steel framed medicine cabinet the MagnaPod plastic storage containers magnetically attach to the inside of the door. For wood or plastic medicine cabinets a thin steel sheet can be purchased to adhere to the interior cabinet door.

Doesn't have to be a medicine cabinet. It could be a fridge or a shelf.

(Difficult) Simplicity

In a standard interior, most objects only serve one function, but Neffa wondered why. Using this question as motivation, Neffa has created a new concept that marries lighting with plants called Ivy Xposed.

The lamp features cut-away artwork that was inspired by raindrops and that is perfect for training the ivy. By deciding for yourself how far you let the ivy grow out, you can emphasize either the lamp or the plant. The hood’s interior symbolizes the sun and provides an unexpectedly colorful highlight. The light shining through the ivy creates a fun pattern that is constantly changing. The flexible, flame-retardant material is easy on the plants and you can use a regular watering can for your plant. The lamp is LED, too so it’s low-energy and environmentally friendly.
